Boat Day ⛵️

3 Women on a boat - chartering a boat or taking a private tour is a popular thing to do for girl's weekend

Chartering a boat or taking a private boat tour in Miami is like a rite of passage for a Miami girl’s trip. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a girl’s weekend here that didn’t involve heading out on the water and enjoying the city from this perspective.

Depending on the size of your group, chartering a boat isn’t as expensive as some might believe (I didn’t believe before I saw either). But, even if it was expensive, I would still recommend it as a must while in Miami.

You’ll likely start out from Coconut Grove or somewhere in Biscayne Bay and cruise around for a bit in the Bay. From here, you can stop at the popular Haulover Sandbar which is a thriving spot for parties, music and more for boaters. An easy spot to enjoy music, sun, and maybe even meet people.

If the sandbar isn’t your scene, you can head towards Key Biscayne, which is a beautiful island with a coastal barrier reef and terrific beaches. See the famous lighthouse or make a pit stop at the Ritz-Carlton.

Dinner 🍕

Depending on whether your group is feeling up to it or not, grab some dinner at a trendy spot or an epic spot to watch the sunset. You can always grab some take out or order in if everyone needs a little more time to recover before heading out for the night.

Here are some recommendations dinner:

  • Bulla Gastrobar (Coral Gables) – one of my favorite Spanish restaurants, incredible paella & sangrias!
  • Strawberry Moon (South Beach) – Adorable pink-themed swim club & bar and restaurant, Mediterranean food
  • La Mar (Brickell Key) – Great food experience, a little fancy & expensive, but has great views on the water
  • Jaguar Sun (Downtown) – Trendy decor and ambiance, great pasta & other small dishes, good cocktails
  • Paperfish Sushi (South Beach) – Cozy and trendy ambiance with great sushi, cocktails & happy hour!

Night out (Round Two) 🍷🍾

It’s that time again – time to head out for the night. Depending on whether everyone is up for another crazy night, I’ve included options for the clubbing scene and also for a more low-key spot to grab a drink and lounge.

Personally, I know it’s hard for me to go crazy two nights in a row, so the option of grabbing cocktails somewhere chill might sit better for day 2.

Either way, here are some recommendations for the second night out:

💃 Miami-Style Clubbing

  • STORY (Miami Beach) – Popular dance club with great DJ’s and sound system
  • Club Space (Downtown) – Go-to spot for those who love to dance, great house music, stay till early morning

🍹 Low-Key Spots for Drinks

  • Tipsy Flamingo Cocktail Bar (Downtown) – Trendy cocktail bar, great music & happy hour 5-9pm
  • Lagniappe Wine Bar (Wynwood) – New Orleans style wine bar with live music nightly & cute patio
  • Terras (Little Havana) – Hotel restaurant and bar, adorable rooftop with incredible views of the skyline and great happy hours

Flat lay of jean shorts and cute flats and sunglasses - examples of what you need to pack for a trip to Miami

Don’t let forgetting an essential put a damper on your vacay vibes. Here’s a list of must-haves to ensure you’re ready to take on the Magic City in style.

  • Sunscreen – With the year-round warm weather and sunshine, you’ll want to protect your skin. Make sure to bring a high-quality sunscreen with at least SPF 30 (Sun Bum sunscreen, to this day, is still my favorite because of its smell vs the nasty smell of other sunscreens).
  • Cute Swimsuits – Whether you plan on lounging on the beach or by the pool, you’ll need a few cute swimsuits to soak up the sun in style.
  • Comfortable shoes – Miami is a city with lots of places to explore on foot, so make sure to pack comfortable shoes that you can walk in for hours. Flip flops, sandals, and sneakers are all good options.
  • Light layers – While Miami is known for its warm weather, it can get chilly at night or indoors. Bring a light jacket or sweater to throw on when needed.
  • Night time outfits – Whether you’re hitting up a club or a rooftop bar, dress to impress! For the night club scene – body con dresses (like this or this) or skirts are your best bet (and don’t forget heels!).
  • Your Best Sunglasses even the cute heart ones for the pool or beach pictures
  • Fun floats for the pool – like this flamingo one or this ring one for a bachelorette party

How Much does a Girls Weekend Trip in Miami Cost?

Miami can be about as expensive as you want it to be. Many people leave Miami having spent LOTS of money. However, where you stay is generally going to be the most expensive part of the trip – costing anywhere from an average of $200-$400 per night.

There are also ways to make your trip more budget friendly though! Take advantage of your hotel breakfast (if it offers it), use your kitchen if you have one, and pick places during happy hour or women’s nights for discounts or free drinks.
